National Cancer Society was established on 22 December 2001 as
A public charitable trust which aimed to:
1. To educate and create awareness amongst people as to the cancer disease, its cure/treatment and prevention by means of health education and activities.
2. To educate and create awareness on issues relating to health.
3. To support research activities.
4. To organise activities specifically for the benefit of mother and child health.
5. To maintain and help financially, provide education and to establish in life orphans, destitutes, widows, handicapped persons for a better society.
6. To facilitate educational activities by granting scholarships, grants and awards.
7. To organise professional and educational activities.
8. To help cancer patients and their families in their treatment by way of free professional services, medicines, financial support and social rehabilitation.
9. To set up Medical centres and research facilities.
